June 24, 2008, Camp Iridimi, Iriba, Chad...Darfuri Refugees working for CARE International tend to seedlings in a nursery where they grow trees in an effort to combat the firewood shortage crisis. With rain shortages and long growth periods (3 yrs.) however, it doesn't promise to have much of an impact on the crisis. It is estimated that within one year, there will be no more firewood in the region.
